What Do We Use Compressed Gas For?

Posted in Blogging by Darcy Underdown on May 4, 2012

I do not know how clever that was, but I am proud of it nonetheless. Gas cartridges are some of the most versatile products on the market and they are used in a wide variety of fields. Because of that, gas cartridges come in many different sizes to fit the needs of the users.

One of the most commonly used gas cartridges are the ones employing CO2 as their source of energy. Carbon Dioxide cartridges (also referred to as CO2 cartridges) are extremely useful exactly because of the versatility of the gas. If you ever used a BB gun or a paintball gun then chances are high that you used one powered by CO2 cartridges.

Gas cartridges

Gas cartridges range in size depending on their target for usage. Their size is measured in milliliters and the smallest models usually range from 10 to 700 ml water capacity cylinders. In the case of CO2 cartridges, the gas itself is compressed up to the point it becomes a liquid, thus offering a lot of energy in a small package.

The field of application for gas cartridges is very wide as they can be used both for medical, military or scientific equipment, but also for entertainment. If you played around filling up balloons, you most likely used a compressed gas cylinder if your work required you to fill more than just a couple of those.

CO2 cartridges are very safe and because of that they are used also in a number of fields. My personal experience is limited to paintball guns and BB guns but do not think that their usage stops there.

But enough about that, the best way to see how to expand the usage of gas cartridges or CO2 cartridges start looking around the web and think a little bit about it next time you use one!

3 Ways your Baby’s First Birthday Party will be Better

Posted in Family by Andria Karson on May 3, 2012

It’s amazing how fast the first year of your child’s life goes. One day you are bringing them home from the hospital. It seems like a few days later you are beginning the process of planning their first birthday party. There is something about this “first” that makes you want to go all out. It is the first birthday your child ever gets to celebrate. It is the first time they will get to smash a cake all on their own and dig in. The smiles and giggles you see from them on that day are worth all of the hard work and planning you put into the party. Here are a few tips that will help make that day a success for you and everyone else involved.

  • Invite your child’s “friends” but be sure to invite your friends as well. This day is in a sense more about pleasing you than it is your baby. If you want 6 one year olds crawling or running around, then go ahead and do that but it is most likely going to be a more enjoyable day if you get to share it with your close friends.
  • Remember that your baby is not going to remember much from this day. They will have pictures to look back at when they get older but that is about it. Don’t go crazy decorating or anything like that. You baby is going to enjoy the cake and presents and will be perfectly content that mommy and daddy are there to enjoy the special day.

  • As stated before, this day is just as much for you as it is for the baby. You are going to want to soak in every moment without distraction. You’re going to miss out on important details if you are off preparing food or cleaning up spills. If you can, have the party at a park or other location than your home and take advantages of one of the catering services Austin has so many of. Instead of you preparing and serving food, you can sit back and relax while your caterers Austin do all the work.

A home-made, unique gift to give to mothers is a personalized coupon book. Include coupons that mom can redeem to get her car washed, the lawn mowed or even a foot rub!

Seeds or plants are gifts that keep giving well beyond Mother’s Day. If mom is into gardening, get her some seeds to plant. If gardening is not so much her thing, a small indoor plant is sure to express love and thanks on Mother’s Day and beyond!

5 Tips To Help You Save Money While Grocery Shopping

Posted in Home by Darcy Underdown on April 6, 2012

If you are anything like the average family, then you are feeling the weight of the global recession every time you buy gas or go grocery shopping. Obviously enough, the high price of gas and groceries are connected. The high price of gas raises the cost of transporting groceries via truck, and it is the customer that foots this bill every week.

Here are 5 Tips To Help You Save Money While Grocery Shopping:

Take advantage of deals

Take Advantage of Weekly Sales and In Store Fliers To Find Deals

Some of the best deals and discounts are offered in store. Make sure that before you shop that you pick up the sales flyer at the door. Often times you can find grocery items that are 20% lower than their normal prices. Many grocery stores also use these in store sales flyer as a loss leader to influence shoppers to spend money, so never buy items that are not on your list just because they are on sale.

Only Shop Once Per Week

Avoid making multiple trips to the grocery store because these multiple trips can lead to impulse shopping. Choose one day of the week for buying groceries, and do not return until the next week. This is really important when you have children who will demand all sorts of items that are not on your grocery list or within your budget. This also applies to eating fast foods and other unplanned meals. Avoid all impulsive shopping.

Create A Grocery List And Stick To It

Take time to clip coupons

This closely relates to the tip above. You must have a grocery list that you never stray from. A detailed list will allow for iron clad budgeting of your groceries. Similar to a weekly budget, never deviate from your grocery list. This alone will save you money.

Take Time To Clip Coupons

Become a coupon clipper. Take the time to read your ‘junk’ mail because often times smaller grocery chains offer huge coupons and sales fliers. Also, join several of the online coupon sites like Retail Me Not and Save 1 to receive coupons daily via email and text message. It’s a time consuming activity, but coupon clipping will lower your grocery bill.

Systematically Plan Your Meals

Strategic meal planning will make the most of your weekly grocery budget. A good way to strategically plan your meals is to buy bulk items on sale that can be used for different types of meals. An example is storing up on frozen vegetables when they are marked down 80%. My family does this and it saves us $80 per month. Find foods that you constantly use and buy them when there’s a sale. Also, do not fall into the variety trap, where you are constantly trying to mix and match different meals. It’s okay to eat the same thing 3 nights in a row — especially when you can find a great sale on your staple foods.

Grocery prices have skyrocketed, but with some planning you will be able to find deals.

How a Skin Care Blog Can Help Fight Acne

Posted in Blogging by Darcy Underdown on April 5, 2012

The world of blogging has always been fascinating to me. Before the Internet, there was no outlet for people to share the way they do now. It’s definitely impacted popular culture and how people interact with each other on a regular basis. I have friends who have started up their own blogs covering different types of topics. Some of them deal with ordinary things like recipes and cooking. Other people treat their blog like an online diary and share intimate details about their life. I’ve always wanted to start one of my own, but up until recently I didn’t know what to blog about. A friend of mine told me that I should “write what I know”, and it might be a good idea to help people if I could. Since one of the biggest problems I’ve ever faced in my life is serious acne, I decided to start up a blog related to skin care.

blog

What started as a simple project has actually turned into something tremendous. I thought I might be able to help other people, but I’ve actually found out I’m benefiting as well. One thing I didn’t take into account is the emotional aspect of fighting acne on a daily basis. It’s incredibly stressful and sometimes you feel all alone. There have been many times when I thought I would never get over my bad skin problems, and there were lots of moments where I wanted to quit. I thought I was alone in experiencing these things, but the Internet has shown me there are many people in my shoes.

While I’m able to give advice to people who are trying to get clear skin, I’m also getting feedback through my blog. This has helped to form a support system that makes me feel stronger. So rather than trying to find the right products all by myself, I’m able to connect with my readers like never before. There’s a lot of good advice out there and sometimes finding a solution for acne involves sifting through all the available information. It’s a lot easier when you have other people who can help, especially when there is motivated as you are.

Creating my blog has been an enjoyable experience that has led to many rewards. It is allowed for communication with people who I would have otherwise never met. It’s also turned me on to other sources of information that have led to new products, different approaches, and good advice. I never knew that a blog to be so powerful, but I’m certainly glad discovered its potential by myself.

How to Choose the Perfect Gift

Posted in Nothing by Alexandria Karson on March 25, 2012

The best gifts are always the ones that reflect the recipient’s interests or passions. Not only are these types of presents ones the giftees will be able to put to good use, but they show that you put some time, thought and effort into your purchase. Picking out presents shouldn’t be a pain, though, so here are some suggestions to help you during your next gift-shopping spree.

The Foodie

Look for unique kitchen gifts as a tribute to your foodie friend, such as a garlic rocker, a blown-glass oil and vinegar cruet set or a pizza-making set complete pizza peel and stone. Even those who have every kitchen gadget available will appreciate the gift of gourmet food. This could be a basket filled with artisan breads and cheeses, an assortment of sea salt from around the world or a gift of the best seasonal food, such as lobsters in the summer or a variety of pears and apples in the fall.

The Fitness Guru

Shopping for someone who is interested in health and fitness gives you many options. Athletic apparel is always welcomed, such as yoga pants, basketball shirts or crew socks. Women usually appreciate workout DVDs, and men prefer just about any type of sports equipment. If budget isn’t a problem, consider going the made-for-TV route and getting them the Shake Weight or Flex Belt to help them keep fit while at home. Do you online research and you can usually find a 25% off Flex Belt coupon to help keep costs down.

Movie Afficionado

If your giftee loves watching movies, your shopping trip just became simple. Give a gift certificate to the local theater, some memorabilia from a favorite movie or a subscription to a movie rental service like NetFlix. You can also put together a “movie night” basket that they are sure to enjoy. Fill a basket with DVDs of their favorite genre, a few microwave packages of popcorn and some boxes of candy. For a more grownup treat, look for gourmet munchies like chocolate-covered espresso beans, almonds or pretzel sticks.

New Mother

Most people shopping for a new mother tend to buy gifts that help with the baby, but few people think to buy something that will allow Mom a little bit of well-deserved indulgence. Think gel-filled eye mask to get rid of those sleep-deprived bags under the eyes, a box of truffles to let Mom have a gourmet chocolate indulgence or gift certificate to a spa, along with a promise to babysit.

Before you start shopping for gifts, take a few moments to really think about the person you are buying for. When you buy something that you want rather than one that the recipient will really appreciate, you may be wasting your time and money.

Watching Grandparents Grow Older and Struggle Financially

Posted in Family by Eve Hambly on March 9, 2012

My grandfather recently celebrated his 78th birthday and along with it came some financial trouble. The thing about my grandfather is that he was always the type to penny pinch and always had his finances in order, but when retirement came he wasn’t as prepared as he thought he was.

He has been retired for over 12 years now but according to my parents his money isn’t going to last much longer. Not that my parents don’t love him but they would rather he not live with them as it would most likely cause too many problems as he likes his independence.

So, I decided to do some research for my grandfather and came up with the idea of applying for a reverse mortgage. I researched into how does a reverse mortgage work and found out that my grandfather was the perfect candidate for this type of loan. He was over the age of 62, owned his home outright, still wanted to stay in his home for many years, and needed some money without a specific time frame to have to pay it back.

I looked everything over for him and decided to present my case to him. You see, he never liked borrowing money and his home has been paid off for over 40 years now so he was a little reluctant about taking out a loan. I explained the mortgage in full and told him it would be the best way for him to remain in his house and not have to worry about not being able to pay the bills or buy food.

He finally agreed and I told him I would help him every step of the way through the process. In a way we are actually learning together and bonding over something that could have been negative, but now is something that can help my grandfather live the life he wants even as he grows older and wiser.

Why I Use A Low Carb Diet For Losing Weight

Posted in Life by Andria Karson on February 25, 2012

I have shared a lot of my life on this blog but one thing I have not talked about is my weight.  You see, I have always had a problem with being too heavy.  I have fought it my entire life.  That is until I found the low carb lifestyle that allows me to eat enough to have that full feeling and still lose weight and keep it off.  I have decided to share this news with my readers because maybe it can help others.

The idea behind a low carb diet is to control the number of grams of carbohydrates you eat each day.  The USDA recommends 300 grams for a person who is on a 2500 calorie diet.  This is a lot of carbs but even this level is surpassed by many people.  It is really hard to find any processed foods today that don’t contain sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or refined flour.  All of these are high in carbohydrates and cause a spike in you blood sugar when you eat them.  This rise in blood sugar causes a spike in insulin and this then converts the sugar into fatty acids which are stored as fat in fat cells.  So, the more sugar you eat they fatter you get.

I went on a no carb foods diet for about two weeks and then switched over to a low carb diet.  For the first two weeks I limited my carbohydrate intake to 20 grams and then kept it under 50 grams for the remainder of my weight loss program.  I lost the weight I needed to and I never felt hungry.

If you are having trouble with your weight then you should also look into a no carb food diet to jump start your weight loss and then switch to a low carb plan to keep the weight pouring off.  You may surprised at how easy it is to do.

Family Pet

Of course this includes providing your pet with the safest and most comfortable environment. Along with this is also to ensure that he is eating well and stays healthy as much as possible. How To Make Money From Home

Posted in Blogging by Eve Hambly on January 31, 2012

File:USCurrency Federal Reserve.jpg

Who doesn’t want to make money from home?  It is the dream of most people these days.  It sure sounds like a fun and glamorous lifestyle doesn’t it?  There are a lot of advantages of working from home and I would like to focus on these areas in this particular post.

The main advantage of working from home is that you are your own boss.  Gone are the days of having to listen to someone else to give you direction.  You alone determine how successful you will be.  You call the shots when you have your own business.  If you work hard then you will be the one to reap the rewards, not a boss hanging over you.  Unfortunately you will also reap the consequences but let’s focus on the positive for now…

Another advantage of working from home is that you can often set your own hours.  You only need to work 8-5 if you truly want to.  If you want to take a day off you can…without getting a bosses approval.  If you want to take off work early or come in to work late you can do that as well.  You call the shots.

How about that daily commute that you hate so much?  It’s a drag for most of us.  Many of us waste an hour going to work, spend at least eight hours doing a job we don’t enjoy, and then spend another hour driving back home again.  When you work from home you effectively cut two hours off of this daily routine.  Think of what you could do if you had an extra two hours in your day?

When you work from home your lunch is in your kitchen….not down the street.  No need to pack a daily lunch anymore or figure out which restaurant or take-out you want to go to for a quick bite at lunchtime.  In some cases you can just go to the kitchen, prepare a quick bite of something, and then back to work…giving you an even more efficient schedule.

As you can see form this short article there are a lot of advantages to working from home.  The central key is really finding something that you truly love and can do from home or perhaps take a course like how to make money working from home for begginers.  That will be a topic of our next post and we hope that you will join us.
